TaKeOn Productions' Third Installment!
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2010
New York, NY
On
Saturday February 13th, New York City was witness to
another installment of The New York ShowDown series
brought to you by TaKe On Promotions-an action-packed
night of professional & amateur Muay Thai. Fans were
treated to 10 high-paced bouts from varying skill
levels. TaKe On's mission is to give every fighter
their chance at glory, and this show was testimony to
that mission. The card started off with novice
fighters showcasing their skills, followed by B class
fighters duking it out for 5 rounds, and ending with
pros battling it out for the WKA Men's Lightweight
North American Title.
Fighters represented local and international gyms,
including 5 Points Academy, The Wat, Sitan Gym NY,
Sitan Gym PA, CT Combat, M-1 Thai Boxing (Canada),
Ottawa Academy of Martial arts/Renzo Gracie (Canada),
Mohawk Muay Thai (USA) and Lotus Gym (Holland).
Every fight had the spectators on the edge of their
seats and delivered what fight fans came to see...Muay
Thai at its best! Matchmaker and VP of TaKe On Aziz
Nabih did a spectacular job at matching all of the
combatants. Promoters Eddie Cuello & Mike Gasparski
have their jobs cut out for them: topping this mega
fight card for the next installment of the New York
ShowDown series (April 17th) will not be easy, but
with the amount of rising talent these days the task
shouldn't be too difficult.
Of note was Eddie
Martinez's (5 Points) head kick KO of Chris Minor
(Mohawk Muay Thai, California) at 1:49 of round 2.
Fighter of the Night honors went to Sitan Philly's
Rami "The Arabian Nightmare" Ibrahim as he TKO'd Dave
van Duyn (Lotus Gym, Holland) at 1:47 of round 5 for
the Pro WKA 132 lb. belt. Rami has TKO'd his last 3
opponents and looks to keep that streak going for
2010.
