PRESS RELEASE
Capitale in New York City - World Champion Louis Neglia & Ray Longo Productions brought together a great card of championship kickboxing. World Kickboxing Association sanctioned the three main events featuring professional Muay Thai prestige matches. First match featured local favorite, Kat Diaz, of Team Tiger Schulmann vs Canadian Sandra Bastian from Mike Miles' National Kickboxing & Muay Thai Gym in Calgary, Canada. This bout was contested over four rounds where Diaz used good boxing combined with low kicks to win the majority decision. This was a tough bout. Both fighters giving their all and Bastian mounting a good comeback in the fourth round with effective clinch/knee techniques. Second match featured New Jersey's Derek Riddick fighting out of Kru Phil Nurse's gym in New York City vs New York's Michael "Phoenix" Thomas of Maisonet's Muay Thai. Riddick has a reputation of ending his matches quickly and this one was no exception. Riddick stunned his opponent early in the first round and followed up by attempting to clinh/knee but both opponents went to the canvas. Thomas stunned from the previous blow was unable to compose himself to the referee's satisfactiion and therefore, Referee Kuhn Fred Fitzgerald waved the match off resulting in a TKO at 1:32 in the first round. Main event featured another local favortie, Shennen Maceo, of Team Tiger Schulmann vs Canadian Sokhim Or from Mike Miles' National Kickboxing & Muay Thai Gym in Calgary, Canada. This match turned into a battle that brought the standing room only crowd to its feet as this match went back and forth. Both fighters came out strong or with good leg and head kicks following up with effective clinch/knee. Maceo countered back with good boxing and a strong leg kick that affected Or. Middle rounds found both fighters working their game to try and effectively break down their opponent. As the bout continued, Or's strong kicks seemed to find their target more often and wear down Maceo's defenses. Final round featured both fighters giving their all. Maceo's good boxing, Or's effective kicks, and finishing the round with decisive clinch/knee techniques. Although, it was a unanimous decision for Or, both fighters left the ring with much respect for one another and the crowd was treated to a great Muay Thai match. Undercard featured many great full contact and Muay Thai matches and was sanctioned by the USKBA.
